firmware-tools-common software package provides Scripts and tools to manage firmware and BIOS updates, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install firmware-tools-common
firmware-tools-common is installed in your system.
Make ensure the firmware-tools-common package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep firmware-tools-common *
You will get with firmware-tools-common package name, version, architecture and description in a table
